Elgin City v Stirling Albion preview

Stirling Albion make the long haul north to play Elgin City at Borough Briggs on Saturday, aiming to end a run of four straight defeats in Ladbrokes League 2.

Team news: Defender Jason Marr and strikers Mark Stewart and Darren Smith are all ruled out while midfielder Kevin Moon, who has missed the last seven games, is rated 50/50. No new signings are expected before the transfer window closes tonight but clubs in League 1 & 2 can still bring in loan players during September.

Recent meetings: Our last league victory was 2-0 in a midweek match at Borough Briggs on March 20 but we slumped to a 3-0 defeat there 10 days later.

Opponents: Elgin City have taken seven points out of nine so far. They drew 1-1 at Annan in their opening game then beat Edinburgh City 1-0 at home and Albion Rovers 1-0 away. Last week’s match with Cowdenbeath was postponed due to gravel on the pitch, which was deemed a danger to the players. Elgin’s summer signings include Jordan Lowdon (Clyde), Craig Beattie (Edinburgh City), Kyle Gourlay (Dundee, loan), Kerr Hay (Montrose), Rabin Omar (Annan Athletic), Thomas McHale (Truro City) and Greg Morrison (Ross County, loan).

Referee: David Munro

Admission: Adults £12, Concessions £7. Stand is £2 extra

Borough Briggs: One of the best lower-league grounds in the country. You can change ends at half-time and catering is usually of a high standard

Bars: Sports Bar will be open at 12 noon but no U18s. Large Hall Bar will be open at 1.30pm – children welcome under adult supervision

Twitter: Match updates via @Stirling_Albion

Weather: Looking like a dry day and decent temperatures

Our next game: Stirling Albion v Queen’s Park – 15/09/18
